Poison, Adultery, and Married Siblings; Murder of Pastor Reveals Politician’s Family Secrets
Children of the celebrity evangelical couple have come forward with allegations that Federal Deputy Flordelis has been poisoning the pastor since at least last year. This follows revelations that several of the couples children have been sleeping with their adopted siblings.
The investigation into the murder evangelical pastor Anderson do Carmo has taken another strange turn with police pursuing claims that his famous wife has been attempting to poison him over the last two years.
On June 16 Do Carmo was shot to death outside his Rio de Janeiro home after returning around 4 AM.
In statements made to authorities, children of Do Carmo and the Federal Deputy Flordelis dos Santos de Souza said that she has been attempting to poison the pastor since at least 2018. The couple has 55 children, the majority adopted, of which at least five have implicated Flordelis’ involvement.
In the first summary police report obtained by Brazilian paper O Globo, chief investigator of the case, Bárbara Lomba, stated that it would be necessary to investigate if symptoms experienced by Do Carmo over the last several months were consistent with poisoning.
Medical records from the hospital Niteroi D’Or show that the pastor visited three times over the last two years. In October of 2018 he was hospitalized for five days after experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain.
Flávio dos Santos, biological son of Flordelis, was arrested at the pastors funeral and later admitted to authorities that he had shot the pastor six times with the help of 18-year-old Lucas dos Santos do Carmo – adopted son of the couple. Lucas later admitted to his involvement in the murder after police presented security footage in which he appeared.
In the process of investigating the case, authorities uncovered intrigue and secrets that the pastor and politician worked hard to keep from the public.
Erica de Santos de Souza, adopted child of the couple, told police that Adriano dos Santos – biological child of Flordelis– had affairs with at least two of her adopted siblings.
The murdered pastor’s mother told authorities that Simone dos Santos, the biological daughter of Flordelis, and Pastor Do Carmo dated before he broke up with her to date her mother. Erica also told authorities that Simone would go on to date the couples adopted son Alexandre Freire.
Wagner Pimenta, the adopted son of the couple and councilman of São Gonçalo, told authorities that Flordelis was the intellectual mentor of the murder. According to Pimenta, she manipulated her children into committing the crime. He also told authorities that Flordelis had the pastor’s phone thrown off the Rio-Niteroi bridge, contradicting statements made by Floradelis who promised to deliver the device to authorities.
The Do Carmo case has become a popular focus for Brazilians with the many twists repeatedly bringing it back into the media’s spotlight. Flordelis’ position as a Federal Deputy, – the equivalent of a congresswoman in Brazil’s political system – has provided a higher profile to the investigation. Although two of the sons have already admitted to their part in the crime, authorities are still investigating if there may have been other factors or participants in the murder of the pastor.
